Complete Electrical and Control design for the addition of an Emergency Pump Station and improvements to the plant effluent for the Fox Metro Water Reclamation District Wastewater Treatment Plant.
IDCS designed the electrical and instrumentation for a new influent waste water pumping station. The station houses three soft-starting 45HP motors as well as a 250 KW natural gas generator.
The FMWRD had an aging electrical system, was beginning to expand processes, was in the process of standardization and a new plant was being built, South of the existing one. IDCS was tasked with evaluating the existing systems, as well as discussing the current modifications and future plans.
The Fox Metro Water Reclamation District Water Treatment Plant underwent an expansion in 1980, which is when most of the medium voltage cable was installed. The cables were old XLP jacketed cables which, by 2007, were at the end of their life.
The Fox Metro Water Reclamation District's Building N houses centrifuges for sludge dewatering. Intelligent Design and Construction Solutions designed the medium voltage switchgear feed to the building. Throughout the project, the medium voltage switchgear was problematic; a member of the FMWRD staff was injured during orientation.
IDCS was responsible for the new electrical service and power distribution as well as the new instrumentation design. This new influent wastewater pump station consists of three 45hp Variable Frequency Drive Pumps with one future VFD Pump.

IDCS designed the replacement of the existing positive displacement pumps with new rotary lobe pumps with variable frequency drives (VFDs). The system included a new seal water system, sludge flow meter, and suction and discharge pipe line protection.
IDCS was responsible for the design of two Variable Frequency Drives that will individually control all four Raw Influent 300 hp Motors. The two 6-Pulse VFD's are provided with harmonic mitigation and dual-output contactors. All four motors were designed for replacement with new inverter-duty rated motors, along with new shafts that penetrate the first floor and go to the pumps that are 25 feet below the motors.
The design for the Fox Metro Water Reclamation District SCADA Implementation Project included a client server based network with redundant fiber optic communication in a distributed control programmable logic controller (PLC) platform which integrates 17 areas of the plant.
