Master Electrical Plan

Master Electrical Plan

Owner  - FMWRD
Client      -   Deuchler (WEDA)
Location   - Oswego, IL

The FMWRD had an aging electrical system, was beginning to expand processes, was in the process of standardization and a new plant was being built, South of the existing one. IDCS was tasked with evaluating the existing systems, as well as discussing the current modifications and future plans. IDCS developed a plan that took into account budgetary constraints, safety concerns, scheduled process expansions, green items, suggested monitoring of arc loads and recommendations of bid gas generators. The IDCS design standardized equipment for ease of maintenance and reduced down-time with available spares. In addition, IDCS suggested system-wide improvements for increased redundancy and reliability; as well as providing electrical utility base and structure and suggesting improvements for reducing costs. This plan was put into immediate use for the next plant expansion. The information contained in the Master Plan provided options for each large piece of equipment and helped standardize the plant's large power distribution equipment as well as power distribution cables and splice connectors.
