Lemay Outfall 002 Elimination

Lemay Outfall 002 Elimination

Owner  - MSD
Client      -   HDR
Location   - St. Louis, MO

The Lemay Ash Pump Station pumps the runoff from ash drying lagoons back to the main Lemay Water Treatment Plant (WTP), preventing the runoff from flowing into the Mississippi River through Outfall 002. This project was required as part of an Environmental Protection Agency consent decree. IDCS was sub-consultant to HDR and provided instrumentation design. The design included the installation of a local PLC to control the variable frequency drives on the submersible pumps, instrumentation to monitor runoff levels and panel conditions, such as heat and intrusion and the status of a new natural gas generator. The PLC is connected to a radio for communication back to the Lemay WTP.
